35-Year Old Driver Loses Control of Car On Highway 101
Salinas, CA (April 18th, 2023) – A fatal two-vehicle accident on Highway 101 in Salinas has claimed the life of a 35-year-old man. According to California Highway Patrol (CHP), the accident occurred at around 10:15 p.m. on Sunday evening, April 16, just north of North Main Street.
Reports indicate that the victim was driving a 2018 Chevrolet when he lost control of the car for an unknown reason. The car rolled over and came to a stop in the roadway with its lights off.
Dodge Ram, Unable Avoid Chevrolet, Plows Into Car; Killing Driver Instantly
Witnesses who were driving by the area pulled over and turned on their hazard lights. They attempted to alert oncoming traffic of the vehicle in the roadway using a flashlight.
Unfortunately, a 2019 Dodge Ram, driven by a 44-year-old Carmel Valley man, was traveling at 65 mph heading south when it collided with the Chevrolet.
Always Wear Your Seat belt
The impact of the collision caused the death of the Chevrolet driver, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. On the other hand, the driver of the Dodge Ram remained unharmed. He had his safety belt on at the time of the collision.
Authorities closed the road for about an hour as they investigated the crash. They urged anyone with further information on the accident to contact Officer D. Watson with CHP Monterey at 821-770-8000.
