Pedestrian Killed, Driver Arrested in DUI Crash in Fremont
Fremont, CA (May 3, 2024) – Tragedy struck late Friday evening on May 3rd, as a pedestrian lost their life in a DUI-related crash in the 45000 block of Fremont Boulevard. 58-year-old Hung Vuu from Sunnyvale, struck the pedestrian at a traffic signal pole while driving in the area. So unfortunately, the incident, which occurred around 11:30 p.m., has left the community reeling and authorities urging for information from witnesses.
Several witnesses identified Hung Vuu as the driver, according to the Fremont Police Department. The impact caused major injuries to the pedestrian, who received immediate medical aid from responding officers.
Fremont FD Did Everything they Could To Save The Pedestrian Victim
Despite efforts by Fremont Fire Department and medical personnel, the pedestrian succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Meanwhile, Hung Vuu sustained minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Following the crash, authorities arrested Hung Vuu on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol. They are currently conducting an ongoing investigation.
