Fatal Rollover Accident on I-80 Near American Canyon Road
Vallejo, CA (August 7, 2024) – A tragic two-vehicle rollover accident on Interstate 80 in Vallejo early Wednesday morning has resulted in at least one fatality, according to authorities.
The crash occurred at approximately 12:47 a.m. on August 7, near the American Canyon Road off-ramp. A gray Toyota Prius and a black Ford Bronco collided in the westbound lanes of the freeway, as a result, both vehicles rolled over.
2 Westbound Lanes On Interstate 80 Were Temporarily Closed
Officers from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to the scene and confirmed that at least one person had died as a result of the crash. In addition, the identity of the victim has not been released, pending notification of their next of kin.
In the aftermath of the collision, authorities temporarily closed two westbound lanes of I-80 to allow emergency crews to clear the scene. Investigators are still determining the cause of the accident and have not released any further details at this time.
Authorities advised motorists to use alternative routes while they conducted the investigation and cleanup.
