ANAHEIM, CA (August 19, 2021) – Stephen McGuire was struck and killed early in the morning on Saturday in Anaheim. Authorities allege the driver–later identified as Joshua Michael Petro–intentionally ran over McGuire in the August 14 crash.

The incident occurred in the parking lot at 107 W. Ball Road where a 7-Eleven convenience store is located.

The time was roughly 12:38 a.m., Anaheim Police said.

Responders arrived and transported McGuire to the hospital. He was pronounced deceased in the hospital.

McGuire was a resident of El Monte, 36 years old.

Reports say according to Shane Carringer, who is a sergeant wit Anaheim Police, investigators believe the victim had been intentionally run over with a vehicle.

Authorities located the driver at a later time and in another location, and arrested him on suspicion of murder. He was identified as Petro, 32 years old.

Investigators are continuing their work on the incident.
