San Jose, CA (September 5, 2023). In the early hours of Sunday, September 3, a horrifying incident unfolded on Winchester Boulevard. The result was the tragic loss of an adult male pedestrian’s life. According to the San Jose Police Department, the incident occurred when a juvenile, behind the wheel of a stolen 2019 Hyundai SUV, swerved off the road, colliding with the unsuspecting pedestrian at approximately 3:22 a.m. The grim episode unfolded in the 1100 block of Winchester Boulevard.

The stolen SUV, now a lethal weapon, continued its deadly path by mounting the sidewalk and careening into a tree near the intersection with Walgrove Way. The impact of the collision was so severe that it claimed the life of the pedestrian on the spot. Authorities from the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office are withholding the victim’s identity until next of kin can be notified.
While the stolen vehicle wreaked havoc, the teenage driver responsible for the chaos suffered non-life-threatening injuries. After the collision, emergency services swiftly transported the young offender to a local hospital for medical attention. Subsequently, the San Jose Police Department apprehended the teenager.
