One Person Dies When Car Drives Off Cliff

A car started a fire after it plunged off of a cliff near Malibu and burst into flames at noon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The car drove off the side of Kanan Dume Road in the Santa Monica Mountains and landed about 100 feet down a canyon.

The fire ignited on impact and then spread for about 2 acres.

The driver was killed in the accident. The crash is still under investigation.
