New Legislation for Bike Riders

With more bike riders in Long Beach, increased traffic and passing from behind is becoming a problem.

A recent bill, SB 1464 was approved which now requires motorists to allow 3 feet between the car and the bike rider when passing.

The bill overrides a bill that doesn’t specify how much space should be allowed between the car and the bicycle.

Washington D.C. and 21  other states have similar bills

The bill is designed to improve road safety and to reduce fatalities and injuries.
