Multi Stage Accident Injures Two in Anaheim

Two people are recovering in an Orange County hospital after a multi stage accident involving three cars early Wednesday morning in Anaheim.

The crash was reported just before 6:20 a.m. at the intersection of La Palma Avenue and North Blue Gum Street, where a vehicle made a left turn into oncoming traffic, causing a two stage accident.

A preliminary investigation into the wreck showed that a male driver in a white Nissan Versa travelling east on La Palma made a left hand turn across the westbound lanes when a Honda Accord smashed into it.

The initial impact sent the two Japanese cars spinning in opposite directions where a third vehicle smashed into the driver’s side of the Honda.

Both drivers from the first crash were taken to nearby UCI Medical Center for unknown injuries. At least one was wheeled away on a gurney with a neck brace. The driver of the third vehicle was not injured.

Police closed down the westbound lanes of La Palma and southbound lanes of Blue Gum to investigate the crash and clean up the debris strewn across the intersection.

At this time it is unclear why the driver in the Nissan made such a turn in the face of oncoming traffic. There is no word on whether or not drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
