Sacramento Man Killed in DUI Bicycle Accident

Sacramento, CA (June 10, 2024)  – Jose Ramirez, 36, was fatally struck in a suspected DUI bicycle accident on Fruitridge Road near 88th Street on Monday night.

According to the Sacramento Police Department, the incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. in the New Brighton area. As a result, a driver, allegedly impaired, lost control of the vehicle and hit Ramirez, who was cycling at the time.

Jose Ramirez Was Unresponsive Lying In The Road When S.F.D. Arrived

Sacramento Fire Department officials arrived to find Jose Ramirez unresponsive on the road. Despite their efforts, paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. He was later identified as Jose Valladolid Ramirez, a resident of Sacramento.

They took the driver, who appears to be under the influence, to a hospital for treatment of his injury.  Authorities subsequently arrested him on charges of drug possession and driving under the influence.

So in closing, the investigation into the accident is ongoing.
