Brianna Britten Dies after Car Crashes into Homeless Encampment on Ashlan Ave. in Fresno
Fresno, CA (April 26, 2023) – A woman identified as Brianna Britten died after a car crashed into the tent she was sleeping in, early Monday morning on April 24. The incident took place after 1:00 a.m. on Ashlan Avenue near Highway 41.
Brianna Britten Killed, Erica Jones Arrested in DUI Crash on Ashlan Avenue
The 30-year-old was sleeping in a tent with another woman when Erica Jones, 39, hit them with her car. Officials tried to pull Jones over before the crash but she refused to stop.
Jones crashed into the tent, exited her car, and attempted to escape but the police later caught her near Blackstone and Ashlan Avenues. The paramedics took Britten and the other woman to the Community Regional Medical Center in critical condition. Unfortunately, Britten couldn’t survive the injuries she sustained and passed away later.
The police found evidence of Jones being impaired during the investigation. Following the investigation they arrested her on suspicion of DUI and murder. She is being held without bail in Fresno County Jail.
