A one year old child was struck and killed Saturday night. He was staying with a babysitter in Santa Ana when he wandered away from home.
The accident occurred at approximately 10:00 p.m. near Newhope and Flight Streets. The driver reported that he didn’t see the child.
Jesus Alvarez was hospitalized where he later died.
Alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in the accident.
The driver did not leave the scene and was cooperative with authorities.
The police are investigating the case.
