Jogger Killed After DUI Hit-and-Run Driver Loses Control of Vehicle

Fremont, CA (August 4, 2024) – Brian Gutierrez, 29, is facing serious charges following a fatal hit-and-run incident that occurred Sunday evening on Mission Boulevard near Nursery Avenue.

The accident took place around 8:40 p.m. when Gutierrez, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, lost control of his northbound vehicle, striking an east curb and hitting a jogger. Following the collision, the Hayward resident fled the scene on foot, leaving the severely injured pedestrian behind.

Brian Gutierrez Later Turned Himself In After Authorities Contacted Him

Tragically, the victim succumbed to their injuries shortly after the crash. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased.

Fremont Police later made contact with Gutierrez, who agreed to turn himself in. He now faces charges of hit-and-run resulting in injury and driving under the influence of alcohol.

The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be filed as more details emerge.
