A man who has not been identified died in the hospital in Bakersfield after a car struck him.
Bakersfield, CA (April 18th, 2023) – Tragedy struck on Monday afternoon as a pedestrian lost his life in a fatal accident on Highway 99 near Olive Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). At around 4:05 p.m., the Kern County coroner’s office has yet to identify the victim of the incident.
The CHP reported that the accident occurred when a 32-year-old man attempted to cross the southbound lanes of Highway 99 on foot. The reason for his crossing remains unknown. At the same time, a driver in a southbound Chevrolet switched lanes after the driver in front of them slowed down. Unfortunately, the pedestrian walked directly in front of the Chevrolet as it moved from the No. 1 lane, resulting in a collision.
CHP Looking For Any Information on The Identity of The Victim
The victim suffered major injuries, and the medical team quickly transported him to Kern Medical for immediate attention. However, he unfortunately died shortly after the hospital admitted him due to his wounds. The CHP has appealed to anyone with information about the incident to come forward and provide assistance.
Meanwhile, the Chevrolet driver remained at the scene of the accident and cooperated with the police investigation. The authorities have ruled out alcohol and drugs as potential factors in the incident.
