Angel Cortes Killed in Pomona 2 Vehicle Crash
Pomona, CA (April 9, 2023) – A 26-year-old man from Long Beach, Angel Cortes, was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Pomona early Sunday morning, April 9th.
The incident occurred at approximately 1:51 a.m. on Garey Avenue at the westbound 60 Freeway. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), two vehicles collided for unknown reasons.
Both drivers were trapped in the wreckage when the Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived on the scene. Unfortunately, Angel Cortes suffered fatal injuries and died at the site. The other driver was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
All Westbound Lanes On The 60 Freeway In Pomona Were Closed
Following the collision, officers issued a SigAlert that closed all westbound lanes of the freeway for several hours while the CHP conducted an investigation.
The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner identified the victim as Angel Cortes, who was 26 years old and from Long Beach.
It is unclear what led to the collision at this time, and the CHP has not released any further information about the incident. However, they are asking anyone with information or who may have witnessed the crash to contact them.
