2 Killed in Early Morning Crash in Oakland
OAKLAND, CA (October 5, 2024) – Two people were killed early Saturday morning when a car crashed into a utility pole near 51st Avenue and San Leandro Street in Oakland.
The crash occurred around 3:45 a.m., according to Oakland Police. For reasons still under investigation, the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to collide with the pole. When officers arrived at the scene, both the driver and passenger were pronounced dead.
Car Was Driving At A High Rate of Speed Before The Crash Allegedly
Police believe the vehicle was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed before the crash. Authorities have not yet determined if alcohol or drugs played a role, but they confirmed that the car had been reported stolen.
