San Martin Caltrain Strikes Car On Tracks Injuring One

1 Hurt After Caltrain Strikes Vehicle in San Martin

San Martin, CA (April 15, 2024) – One person sustained an injury after a Caltrain collided with a car near Monterey Road and San Martin Avenue, according to the San Mateo County Transit District.

For reasons yet to be determined, a vehicle was stopped on the tracks around 6:30 p.m. on Monday, leading to the incident.  And so, a Caltrain 410, traveling southbound with 25 passengers on board, struck the vehicle.

Cal Fire Santa Clara Unit responded to the scene and found a damaged Lexus sedan, with one person requiring medical attention. The current condition of the victim is unknown.

Luckily None of the 25 Passengers Were Hurt In The Train Accident

Fortunately, none of the 25 passengers on board the Caltrain reported any injuries. However, officials are urging anyone with additional information about the incident to come forward.

Authorities remind drivers to exercise caution when driving near train tracks.  However it’s important not to straddle the tracks.  Also, stay behind the crossing arms. In areas without crossing arms, drivers should be particularly attentive and look both ways before proceeding.
