Thomas Harris Killed in Wrong-Way Head-On Accident on PCH In Long Beach

Wrong-Way Collision on PCH Takes Out Multiple Cars

Long Beach, CA (June 12, 2023) – In a devastating incident that unfolded on Thursday evening, June 8, Thomas Harris lost his life in a wrong-way head-on collision on Pacific Coast Highway. The accident occurred at approximately 7:00 p.m. in the 2300 block of the highway, near Juniper Avenue. Emergency responders’ efforts proved futile as they pronounced Harris, a 56-year-old Long Beach resident, dead at the scene.

For Unknown Reasons Thomas Harris Veered Into Wrong-Way Traffic In His 2024 Lexus NX250 SUV

According to the Long Beach Fire Department, Harris was behind the wheel of a 2024 Lexus NX250 SUV, traveling along the westbound lanes of Pacific Coast Highway. However, the reasons for his veering into the eastbound lanes and proceeding in the wrong direction are yet to be determined. Tragically, this led to a catastrophic head-on impact with a green Dodge Challenger. Harris’s vehicle continued its reckless course, colliding head-on with a Toyota RAV4 and a Jeep Compass, both traveling westbound.

The force of the collisions caused the Lexus to partially overturn, coming to rest on its roof. The Dodge Challenger, on the other hand, careened onto the sidewalk, exacerbating the chaos and destruction caused by the accident.

Six individuals Were Cut from Their Mangled Vehicles, but Only Thomas Harris was Pronounced Dead at the Scene

The scene was promptly responded to by firefighters, who skillfully extracted six individuals trapped inside the mangled vehicles. Employing mechanical tools and displaying exceptional skill, they successfully freed the injured victims. Fortunately, their injuries were reported as non-life-threatening.

Preliminary investigations have ruled out speed, drugs, and alcohol as contributing factors in the crash. However, authorities are conducting a thorough inquiry to shed light on the circumstances that led to this devastating incident. The Long Beach Police Department is working diligently to determine the cause of the accident, seeking answers that will bring closure to the grieving family and provide a better understanding of the events that unfolded on that fateful evening.

Our condolences go out the family and friends of Thomas Harris.
