BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 9, 2021) – On Tuesday in Bakersfield, a woman was killed in a collision with a semi truck. The June 8 crash occurred on Taft Highway.

A vehicle–described as a pickup truck–had been traveling on Old River Road and heading north. For reasons that are not known, the pickup veered from Old River Road and onto Taft Highway, where a semi truck was oncoming.

The semi-truck, which had been heading east on Taft Highway, collided with the pickup truck.

Responders arrived and pronounced the driver of the pickup deceased at the crash site. Her identity, including name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.

Responders transported a passenger who had been in the pickup truck to a hospital for treatment of injuries. The current condition of the patient has not been reported.

The person was identified only as the husband of the driver of the pickup truck. His identity has also not been reported.

According to reports, the person who had been driving the semi truck was not hurt in the collision. The truck driver’s identity has not been reported.

Investigators are working to understand the crash, and determine why it happened. They are in the process of collecting details and information.
