A out of control, drunken solo vehicle rollover accident sent two to the hospital and three running from the crash site early Friday morning in San Diego.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident took place on the northbound lanes of Interstate 806 near Interstate 15 at around 2:15 a.m., where a white Ford Explorer lost control and rolled, coming to rest on its roof on the shoulder of freeway.

Five people were inside the vehicle at the time of the accident, two men and three women. Two of the women had to be freed from the vehicle by emergency personnel, at which time they were taken to Scripps Mercy Hospital, where they are currently being treated for unknown injuries.

The other three occupants, both men and the third woman, were able to wriggle their way outside of the mess of twisted SUV and run into the hillside towards Azalia Park to escape the police.

The woman who originally fled the scene eventually returned to the scene of the accident, but the two men are still at large. She was questioned by the police upon her return, but the location of the men could not be determined.

It is believed that the driver of the vehicle was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident, which was a major reason why he fled the scene.

Police closed down lanes to investigate the crash, and to try to find clues as to where the men ran off to. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has any information about the two men who fled the scene is encouraged to notify the San Diego Police Department as soon as possible.
