Scooter Rider Killed on Highway 101 in Potrero Hill Area
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (March 21, 2025) – A man was struck and killed early Monday morning in a multi-vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 101 near the Chavez Street off-ramp in the Potrero Hill neighborhood.
The fatal crash occurred at approximately 12:51 a.m. on March 24th in the southbound lanes of the highway, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
2 Cars Collided Before Hitting The Scooter Riding In The Slow Lane
Authorities report that a blue Toyota Highlander SUV collided with a dark grey Toyota RAV4 before striking the victim, who was riding a scooter in the slow lane.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene, closing the No. 3 and No. 4 southbound lanes and issuing a SigAlert while they investigated the incident. The Highlander was removed by a tow truck as evidence, and the highway was reopened to traffic by 2:40 a.m.
CHP officials are actively investigating the cause of the crash and working to determine fault.
