RIO VISTA, CA (November 29, 2022) – Late at night this week in Rio Vista, a head-on crash involving a suspected DUI driver killed a man. The crash occurred on Highway 160, close to Highway 12 and to the north of it.
The time was roughly 9:40 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
Reports say a vehicle–described as a Subaru–had been traveling on Highway 160 and heading south.
Authorities allege the Subaru went into the lane of opposing traffic, and collided head on with an oncoming vehicle–described as a Honda.
The force of the crash sent the Honda off the roadway, and the Honda struck the embankment.
Responders from Rio Vista Fire worked to free the driver who was trapped in the Honda. Responders transported the patient by airlift to a hospital, but he died en route.
His identity–including name, age, and city of residence–has not been reported.
Reports say the person who was driving the Subaru was not hurt in the crash.
Authorities arrested her on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter.
