NEWPORT BEACH, CA (September 9, 2022) – On Thursday, a vehicle pursued by authorities through Los Angeles County and Orange County collided with another vehicle in Newport Beach, ending the chase. The September 8 crash occurred on Balboa Boulevard at 26th Street.
Reports say a vehicle was being pursued by authorities, for reasons that are not known, through the two counties. The suspect driver was pursued from the 91 Freeway in Los Angeles County, and into Orange County on the 5 Freeway.
The driver continued to flee from authorities, according to reports, traveling on the 55 Freeway to Balboa Boulevard.
At Balboa Boulevard and 26th Street, the vehicle being pursued collided with another vehicle.
Neither vehicle has been described.
It is not known from reports if anyone was hurt in the crash. No one involved in the crash has been identified.
Authorities took the suspect driver into custody.
Investigators are working on the details of the incident.
