LONG BEACH, CA (March 2, 2022) – Late at night on Tuesday in Long Beach, a pickup truck smashed into an apartment building, seriously injuring a child. The March 1 hit-and run crash occurred on Rose Avenue in the 6600 block.

The time was roughly a little before 10:30 p.m., Jose Flores said. Flores is a lieutenant with Long Beach Police.

According to reports, a vehicle–described as a Dodge pickup truck–smashed through the wall of an apartment building, and came to a stop inside.

Responders transported a child who was injured in the crash to a hospital in the area. The young patient suffered injuries that were described as critical.

The identity of the victim has not been reported, but reports say that according to a person who lives in the area, the victim was a girl. The person said the girl’s brother also suffered injuries in the crash.

The pickup truck’s driver is suspected of running from the crash site.

Investigators are looking for the suspect driver has not been identified or described.
