Pedestrian Walking on I-5 near Balboa Park is Struck and Dies
SAN DIEGO, CA (October 8, 2021) – Early in the morning on Thursday in San Diego, a pedestrian was struck on I-5 and later died. The October 7 crash occurred near Balboa Park and Pershing Drive.
The time was roughly 7:00 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
The pedestrian had been walking on I-5 on the northbound side of the roadway. A vehicle–described as a Ford–struck her; the driver remained at the crash site.
Responders arrived and transported the patient to a hospital in the area. She died in the hospital.
She was identified only as possibly in her mid thirties. Her name, age, and city of residence have not been reported.
The identity of the driver has also not been reported.
Investigators are working to understand the crash, and they are continuing in their efforts to collect information.
