Out of Control Truck Crashes into Home, Two Injured

Two men suffered serious injuries after their truck lost control and crashed into a Ramona home Friday afternoon in San Diego.

According to officials from Cal Fire, the crash took place just after 4 p.m. in the 22900 block of San Vincente Road, where a truck piloted by a man in his 20s lost control and crashed through trees and vegetation before colliding with the side of a house.

Both the driver of the truck and a front seat passenger in his 40s suffered serious injuries in the crash, needing to be pulled from the wreckage by responding firefighters. Once extricated, they were airlifted to Palomar Medical Center, where they are listed in critical condition. Upon being admitted, the driver was arrested by local police on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Fortunately, no one was inside the home at the time of the accident, though significant damages were inflicted. Building inspectors will be called to the home to assess the damages and determine if the house is still safe for use or if major structural repairs are needed.

Police investigators are still looking into the cause of the crash, though the driver’s DUI arrest seems to explain his vehicle’s loss of control. There have been no reports of other vehicles involved.
