A crash around 7:30 this morning killed a 53-year-old man who was driving a Honda Civic on Brea Canyon Road, the Orange County Register reports. The collision, which occurred just east of Tonner Canyon Road on April 11, 2012, involved a Chevrolet S-10 pickup, and a Honda sedan.

As reported in The Register’s news story, a 19-year-old driver in the pickup appears to have been traveling northbound on Brea Canyon and she hit the guardrail on the right shoulder, California Highway Patrol said. The pickup then rebounded back into the lanes, and sideswiped a Honda sedan that was traveling southbound. The pick then crashed head on into the Honda Civic.

The battalion chief for the Fullerton/Brea Fire Department said the woman who had been driving the pickup, and the man who had been driving the Honda Civic were transported to a hospital, The Register reports. The man who had been driving the Civic was pronounced dead at St. Jude Hospital, California Highway Patrol said. Responders took a passenger who had been in the pickup to UCI Medical Center.

The investigation is continuing as to the cause of the crash.
