Murder Suspect Drags and Kills Carjacked Driver in Inglewood

INGLEWOOD, CA (October 14, 2022) – Late in the afternoon on Thursday in Inglewood, a murder suspect who was fleeing police carjacked a driver, who was dragged and killed.

The October 13 carjacking and dragging that killed the victim occurred roughly a mile a half from where the intersection of Haas Avenue and Florence Avenue are located.

The time was roughly after 5:00 p.m., Los Angeles Police said.

The incident began, according to authorities, when police were surveilling a person on 7th Avenue in the 5900 block who was suspected of murder.

According to police, the suspect entered a vehicle from the passenger side and the vehicle left the scene.

Officers pursued the vehicle and tried to stop it, but the suspect fled, and crashed at the Haas and Florence Avenue intersection.

The suspect exited the vehicle, authorities said, and carjacked a vehicle–described as an SUV. The suspect drove from the crash site, and for roughly a mile and half, dragged the SUV’s owner, authorities allege.

The suspect was involved in a third crash, and the impact sent the SUV to roll over.

Authorities sent in K-9 units and SWAT, reports say, while the suspect was barricaded in the wreckage.

Police arrested the suspect. The identity of the suspect has not been reported.

Responders pronounced the carjacking victim deceased at the crash site. The person’s identity is not known from reports.

Reports also do not say if anyone else was hurt in the crash, and no one has been identified.

Investigators are continuing their work on the details of the incident.
