Los Angeles Hit-and-run Crash in West Athens Area Kills Man

LOS ANGELES, CA (May 25, 2022) – Early in the morning on Tuesday in Los Angeles County, a hit-and-run crash killed a man. The May 24 crash occurred in the West Athens area, where 120th Street and Vermont Avenue intersect.

The time was roughly 3:00 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.

When authorities from the California Highway Patrol, Los Angeles County Coroner’s office, and the medical examiner’s office arrived on scene, they found the victim. Nearby, on the sidewalk, was a wheelchair.

Authorities do not know if the victim had been in the wheelchair when the vehicle struck him.

The victim’s identity, including his name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.

Investigators are searching for the vehicle involved in the crash, and the suspect hit-and-run driver; neither has been described.
