FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA (September 16, 2021) – Early in the morning on Saturday in Fountain Valley, a pedestrian–identified as Long Ta, 34 years old–was struck and injured by a hit-and-run driver. The crash occurred where Edinger Avenue and Ward Street intersect.

The time was roughly 6:20 a.m., according to Fountain Valley Police.

Police say Ta had been crossing Edinger Avenue within the crosswalk and while the light was green. A vehicle–described as an SUV–went through a light that was red and struck Ta. The driver did not stay at the crash site, but fled the scene.

Responders transported Ta to the hospital, but the injuries were fatal. Ta died two days after the crash.

Investigators are searching for the vehicle involved in the crash, and the suspect driver. The vehicle may be a Dodge or Chrysler minivan, dark in color, investigators say.
