6-Year-Old San Jose Boy Runs Out Onto Hwy 280 and Is Struck and Killed
SAN JOSE, CA (December 14, 2024) — A 6-year-old boy, identified as King Holguin, tragically died after being struck by a car late Friday night on Highway 280 near Leland Avenue, according to the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner.
The incident occurred around 11:00 p.m. when King reportedly left his family’s apartment and ran onto the interstate. But unfortunately, a 2024 Nissan Altima, driven by a 36-year-old San Jose man, struck the child.
CHP Responders Arrived To Find King Holguin Suffering From Major Injuries
California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers responded to the scene and found King suffering from major injuries. Paramedics rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors later pronounced him dead. Authorities have not reported whether the driver sustained any injuries in the crash.
Family members shared that King was autistic and struggled to understand the dangers of traffic. In the wake of the tragedy, relatives have launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover funeral expenses and honor King’s memory.
The CHP continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
