The lead singer from the heavy metal band Suicide Silence was killed in motorcycle accident Halloween night in Huntington Beach.

According to local police, 28 year old Mitch Lucker crashed into a light pole near the intersection of Main and 13th streets and was knocked off his 2013 Harley Davidson, which continued to slide southbound down Main and struck a pickup truck.

Lucker was rushed to nearby UCI Medical Center in critical condition but was pronounced dead a few hours later, at 6:17 a.m. Thursday. The singer was a native of Riverside, and was known as an avid motorcycle rider. He is survived by his wife and daughter. No one else was hurt in the crash.

At this time there is little information about what may have caused the crash, which is still under investigation. Police closed down the immediate accidents site for multiple hours to comb over the scene for any indicators of what may have caused Lucker to strike the light pole. Police have not confirmed or denied if drugs or alcohol were factors.

Remaining band members announced Lucker’s death on their Facebook fan page, saying “There’s no easy way to say this. Mitch passed away earlier this morning from injuries sustained during a motorcycle accident. This is completely devastating to all of us and we offer our deepest condolences to his family. He will be forever in our hearts. Rest in peace Mitchell Adam Lucker. We love you, brother.”

Suicide Silence most recently appeared on the Vans Warped Tour, and is scheduled to play the California Metalfest in San Bernardino later this month, as well as the upcoming Monster Energy Outbreak Tour, though their involvement at this time is in jeopardy.
