EL CAJON, CA (August 24, 2021) – On Saturday in El Cajon, a car crash killed Gady Cruz, 16 years old, and seriously injured Jiovanni Reyes and two other teens. The August 21 incident occurred at Fletcher Parkway and Navajo Road.
Reports say according to El Cajon Police, Cruz had been driving and the vehicle went out of his control; speed may have been a factor. The vehicle smashed into a light pole on Navajo Road.
Cruz was killed in the crash.
Reyes, 16 years old, is in the hospital in a coma. His condition is described as critical. His injuries include a broken back, pelvis, and ribs.
Reports say a friend of Jiovanni’s–identified only as Noah–had also been in the car. Noah was also injured in the crash.
The other teen victim has not been identified by name in reports.
Investigators are working on the details of the incident.
