Wednesday morning, a drunk driver crashed into a VTA Light Rail Train in downtown San Jose. The accident, which occurred around 6:45 a.m. on January 18, 2012, caused the driver minor injuries according to a news story by the Silicon Valley Mercury News.

As the Mercury News reports, the driver hit the train at San Carlos and Almaden streets. Responders took the driver, whose name and gender was not identified, to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. According to San Jose police, the driver was charged with suspicion of drunk driving.

A spokeswoman for the VTA light rail said the buses served the area for roughly 45 minutes after the accident until train service was restored. According to the light rail spokeswoman, the collision did not injure the light rail operator or passengers, but it did damage the train.
