MODESTO, CA (June 14, 2022) – Early in the evening on Monday in Modesto, a driver collided with a Modesto Police officer. The June 6 crash occurred on Sisk Road.

The time was roughly 7:42 p.m., Modesto Police said.

The driver–later identified as Tajz Wells, a resident of Stockton, 33 years old–was traveling on Sisk Road in a Nissan Versa. Wells collided with a Modesto Police Department patrol SUV.

Authorities allege Wells did not stop at a stop sign at the intersection with Whitcomb Way, and collided with the patrol vehicle, according to Dan Starr. Starr is a sergeant with Modesto Police.

Responders transported the police officer to the hospital. The officer’s identity has not been reported, nor have his injuries.

Responders worked to free Wells from the wrecked Nissan.

They transported Wells to the hospital. The injuries he suffered have also not been described.

Investigators suspect DUI may have been a factor in the crash, and Wells may face charges. They are continuing to collect details and information about the incident.
