OILDALE, CA (June 30, 2022) – Christina Eileen Walker was identified as by the Kern County coroner’s office as the pedestrian who was struck and killed in Oildale on Monday. The June 27 crash occurred at N. Chester Avenue and Lincoln Avenue.

The time was roughly 8:53 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

According to authorities, a vehicle–described as an SUV–had been southbound on N. Chester Avenue. Authorities suspect that the pedestrian was going across N. Chester, not within a crosswalk.

Reports say that according to the California Highway Patrol, the driver could not slow or stop or miss hitting the person.

The SUV struck the pedestrian.

Responders found Walker died at the crash site. She was a resident of Bakersfield, 50 years old.

The driver cooperated with investigators. He was identified as Richard Wesson, 55 years old.

Investigators are continuing to examine details and information related to the crash.
