BAKERSFIELD, CA (February 11, 2022) – Early in the morning on Wednesday in Bakersfield, a driver suspected of carjacking crashed into a house. The February 9 crash occurred on Alta Vista Drive.

The time was roughly 5:49 a.m., Bakersfield Police said.

Authorities received a report that a carjacking occurred at gunpoint on Bill Avenue in the 300 block. Authorities received a later report that a vehicle had smashed into a house on Alta Vista Drive in the 1700 block.

Officers arrived on scene, and found a person inside the car at the scene of the crash. Authorities arrested the person, who is suspected of carjacking.

The person was identified as Israel Wilson, a resident of Bakersfield, 24 years old.

Responders transported Wilson to a local hospital for treatment of injuries.

According to reports, no one inside the house was injured in the crash. The extent of damage to the building has not been reported.

Investigators are continuing to work on the incident. If anyone has information about the incident, the person can call Bakersfield Police.
