SANTA CLARITA, CA (November 8, 2022) – Early in the morning on Monday in Santa Clarita, a car crashed into a disabled vehicle, killing a man. The October 7 crash occurred on the 5 Freeway, near Highway 126 and Newhall Ranch Road, and to the south of it.

The time was roughly 3:13 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.

Authorities said a vehicle was disabled on the southbound side of the freeway, and that the vehicle had no lights illuminated.

Another vehicle that was traveling on the freeway struck the disabled vehicle.

Reports say that one of the vehicles overturned, and came to a stop on its side, and that a person may have been ejected in the crash.

Responders pronounced a person deceased at the crash site, according to Patrick Kimball. Kimball is an officer with the California Highway Patrol.

The identity of the man who died has not been reported.

It is not clear from reports which vehicle the man who died had been traveling in.

No one else involved in the crash has been identified.

Investigators are continuing their work on the crash.
