BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 23, 2021) – On Tuesday night in Bakersfield, a car struck a pedestrian, who died from his injuries. The June 22 crash occurred where Bernard Street and North Baker Street intersect.

The time was roughly 9:15 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

Authorities believe the pedestrian had been going across Bernard Street in a crosswalk that is marked, and a vehicle–described as a Chevrolet Impala–struck him.

Responders arrived and transported the injured man to Kern Medical. He was pronounced deceased in the hospital.

The victim was identified only as 55 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.

The person who had been driving the car remained at the crash site and cooperated with investigators. The identity of the driver, including name, age, gender, and city of residence, has not been reported.

Investigators are continuing their work to understand the crash, and why it happened.
