San Luis Obispo, CA (September 16, 2018) – A woman was killed and a man seriously injured Sunday evening, September 16th, after their motorcycle collided with two other vehicles, according to California Highway Patrol. At around 6 p.m., 30-year-old Ryan Pavone of Porterville was riding a 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle eastbound with his passenger, a 27-year-old woman, on Highway 46 near Arbor Road. Ahead of the pair on the road was Daniel Smith, 37, who was stopped in his 2017 Nissan on the right shoulder lane of eastbound Highway 46. CHP said Pavone was driving down the road, his motorcycle drifted rightward onto the shoulder, colliding with the left rear bumper of Smith’s vehicle. The impact launched the female passenger forward from the motorcycle while Pavone and the motorcycle were thrown towards the opposite traffic direction. At this time, 49-year-old Brian Terrizzi was driving a 2010 Ford truck westbound on Highway 46 and collided with Pavone and his motorcycle. Authorities report that Pavone was taken to a local hospital with major injuries and that his passenger was killed in the crash, unidentified as of yet. CHP concluded that intoxication did not appear to be a factor in the accident, and that the two on motorcycle were wearing helmets.
