OCEANSIDE, CA (August 10, 2021) – On Friday evening in Oceanside, a pedestrian was struck and killed by a driver who police allege ran a red light. The August 6 crash occurred on El Camino Real at Camino Town.

The time was roughly 8:40 p.m., Rick Davis said. Davis is a sergeant with Oceanside Police.

According to police, the driver had been traveling on El Camino Real, and went through a light that was red. The driver hit a person who was walking in the crosswalk, police allege.

Responders arrived and pronounced the victim deceased at the crash site. He was identified only as 65 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.

The driver stayed at the accident scene and cooperated with the investigation. She was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter.

The driver was identified as Destiny Fierros.
