BAKERSFIELD, CA (July 9, 2021) – A crash early in the morning on Thursday in Bakersfield killed a person on Highway 43. The July 8 crash occurred at Panama Lane.

The time was roughly 5:13 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

Two semi trucks were involved in the crash, but details have not been reported on the circumstances. Reports say that one of the semi trucks smashed into a tree and erupted in flames.

Responders arrived and found one person died in the crash. The identity of the victim, including name, age, gender, and city of residence, has not been reported.

It is not known if the person who died was the driver of one of the semi trucks.

The other driver has not been identified in reports.

Investigators are working to understand why the crash happened, and what factors may have contributed to it.
