1 Dead, 2 Injured in Wrong-Way Crash on 14 Freeway near Agua Dulce

Agua Dulce, CA – (September 30, 2018) One person was killed in a wrong-way collision that left two people seriously injured and prompted authorities to shut down the northbound 14 Freeway, early Sunday morning, September 30th. At around 5 a.m. south of Escondido Canyon, California Highway Patrol officers responded to reports of a silver Lexus sedan traveling in the opposite direction on the northbound lanes of the highway. At the same time, a white Toyota truck was traveling northbound of Freeway 14, when the two vehicles collided head-on. The driver of the Lexus, identified as 28-year-old George Brave of Los Angeles, was pronounced dead at the scene, said CHP. The occupants of the other vehicle, 51-year-old Phillip Ellyson and his 17-year-old daughter were transported to a local hospital with major and moderate injuries. It is unclear whether impairment was a factor in the crash, CHP said. During investigations and clean-up, officials shut down the northbound lanes between Agua Dulce Canyon Road and Escondido Canyon Road.
