Lakeside, CA (September 27, 2018) – A man and woman died in a two-vehicle crash in Lakeside Thursday morning, September 27th, California Highway Patrol said. The incident occurred at around 6:30 a.m. on Wildcat Canyon Road near Willow Road, a short distance away from El Capitan High School. Occupants of a 1993 Honda Accord were driving southbound on Wildcat Canyon Road at a high speed when the driver lost control of the vehicle, veering rightwards and then left directly into the path of a 2013 Porsche Cayenne, CHP officials said. The occupants of the Honda, identified only as a 53-year-old man and 21-year-old woman of El Cajon, were ejected onto the roadway when the force of the collision split their vehicle in half. The man was pronounced dead at the scene while the woman was airlifted to nearby emergency medical facilities, where she later died from her injuries. The driver of the Porsche, a 43-year-old woman of Santee, was also transported to hospital with major injuries but was expected to survive.

CHP officers report that all occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision. Officials closed Wildcat Canyon Road in both directions for several hours during investigations and clean-up. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is urged to call CHP in El Cajon at (619) 401-2000.
