BAKERSFIELD, CA (October 21, 2022) – On Wednesday morning in Bakersfield, two cars crashed, and one of the cars struck a pedestrian, killing the person. The October 19 crash occurred where Ashe Road and District Boulevard intersect.

The time was roughly 9:30 a.m., Bakersfield Police said.

Authorities allege a vehicle–that had been traveling on Ashe Road and heading north–went through a light that was red, and broadsided another vehicle.

The force of the crash propelled the vehicle that had been northbound on Ashe Road into a pedestrian who was nearby, reports say.

Responders pronounced the pedestrian deceased at the crash site. The identity of the victim–including name, age, gender, and city of residence–has not been reported.

Responders transported the driver of the vehicle that had been northbound on Ashe Road to the hospital. The patient suffered injuries that were described as moderate.

The person’s identity is not known from reports.

Reports do not say if anyone in the vehicle that was struck broadside was injured. The driver of that vehicle has also not been identified.

Investigators are working to understand the crash, and to collect details that will support their understanding.
