A car accident resulted in a champion high school wrestler losing his leg.

Doyle Trout, the champion, was involved in a one car accident Sunday near Waco, Nebraska.

Trout apparently lost control of the car while driving on a gravel road. He swerved and hit a pole. He was pinned inside the car. It was 30 minutes before emergency responders could remove him because they had to wait for the power to be turned off.

Trout was taken to a local hospital where his leg was amputated.

Trout had committed to wrestle at the University of Wyoming.

Mark Branch at the school said that his scholarship will be honored and he offered his thoughts and prayers to the family.
