Elderly Man Struck and Killed on Encinitas Blvd. in Encinitas

ENCINITAS, CA (September 13, 2022) – Early in the morning on Monday in Encinitas, a vehicle struck and killed an elderly pedestrian. The September 12 crash occurred on Encinitas Boulevard in the 1300 block.

The time was roughly 5:59 a.m., Rob Siegfried said. Siegfried is a sergeant with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

No details have been reported on how the crash happened. According to authorities, the pedestrian was attempting to walk across Encinitas Boulevard when he was struck by a vehicle, described as a pickup truck.

Responders pronounced the victim deceased at the crash site. He was identified only as 79 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.

The person who was driving the vehicle has also not been identified.

Investigators are in the process of collecting details and information to understand the crash, and why it happened.
