Ricardo Gomez Perez and Manuel Velasquez Garcia Killed in Bakersfield Head-on Crash

BAKERSFIELD, CA (July 14, 2022) – On Monday in Bakersfield, two men were killed in a head-on crash. The July 11 crash occurred on I-5 near Twisselman Road.

The time was roughly 3:25 a.m., according to authorities.

Authorities said a truck was traveling on I-5 and heading north. For reasons that are not known, the truck went into the lanes of opposing traffic where it collided with another truck.

Responders found both drivers were killed at the crash site.

The two drivers were identified on Tuesday by the Kern County coroner’s office as Ricardo Gomez Perez, and Manuel Velasquez Garcia.

Perez was a resident of Healdsburg, 54 years old.

Garcia was a resident of Montclair, 44 years old.

According to authorities, Garcia had been driving the northbound truck that went into the southbound lanes.

Investigators are continuing their work to examine details and information about the crash.
