NATIONAL CITY, CA (July 8, 2022) – Mariano Murillo Pulido was identified by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office as the elderly pedestrian who was struck and killed in National City on Tuesday. The July 5 crash occurred on Highland Avenue where East 24th Street intersects.
The time was roughly 8:20 a.m., National City Police said.
Pulido had been walking in a crosswalk, reports say, and a vehicle–described as a pickup truck–made a turn to the left and hit him.
Responders pronounced Pulido deceased at the crash site. He was 87 years old.
The driver’s identity has not been reported.
Investigators are continuing to examine the crash details.
