SANTA FE SPRINGS, CA (June 22, 2022) – Early in the morning on Wednesday in Santa Fe Springs, three vehicles collided on I-5, killing one person. The June 22 crash occurred on the southbound side of the freeway, close to where Carmenita Road is located.

The time was roughly a little before 2:00 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.

No details have been reported on how the crash happened, nor the sequence that affected each vehicle.

Reports say one of the vehicles involved in the crash was a semi truck; the other two vehicles have not been described.

One vehicle overturned in the crash and came to a stop upside down.

Responders found one person was thrown from a vehicle when the crash happened. Responders pronounced him deceased at the crash site.

He was identified only as in his forties. His name and city of residence have not been reported.

The vehicle he had been traveling in is not known.

No one else involved in the crash has been identified in reports.

Investigators are working to understand how and why the crash happened. They are in the process of collecting information about the incident.
