EL CAJON, CA (April 14, 2022) – On Tuesday in El Cajon, a truck swerved off of I-8, and smashed into a mobile home, injuring two people. The April 12 crash occurred at 15593 Olde Highway 80, the location of the mobile home.

The time was roughly a little after 8:00 a.m., according to Travis Garrow. Garrow is an officer with the California Highway Patrol.

The incident began when a Chevrolet truck, that had been traveling west on I-8, went out of the drivers control, for reasons that are not known.

The vehicle veered off the roadway, plunged down a slope, and smashed through a chain-link fence. The truck then crashed into the mobile home.

Responders arrived and found two occupants of the truck suffered injuries.

Responders took the driver to Sharp Memorial Hospital. He was identified only as a resident of Alpine, 30 years old. His name has not been reported.

The passenger was identified only as 24 years old. The person’s name and city of residence are not known.

Reports said no one inside the mobile home was hurt when the crash occurred.

According to Jeremy Davis, who is a fire marshal with Lakeside Fire Protection District, the residents were not able to return to live in the mobile home following the crash.

Investigators are at work on the crash details.
